The Little Table

Policies

How our days work.

Sick-child policy

When to stay home: children stay home with a fever of 100.4°F or higher, vomiting or diarrhea in the last 48 hours, or a contagious illness such as pink eye, strep or hand-foot-and-mouth.

Coming back: your child can return after 48 hours with no fever, no vomiting and no diarrhea, without fever reducers. We don't give any medication, so your child needs to be well without it.

If your child gets sick here: we'll call you and ask for pickup within 60 minutes. If anything contagious was exposed, we'll let the other family know.

Credits: if your child is sick, tuition holds the seat and the day isn't credited. If our own children are sick and we have to cancel care, you get a full credit: that day isn't charged.

Extended illness: if your child is out sick for more than a week, tuition drops to half rate from that point until they return, for up to 2 weeks total. If the absence goes beyond 2 weeks, we'll sit down together and talk about whether to release the seat so we can care for another child.

Screen policy

Screen time is rare at The Little Table during care hours. Now and then, if a child needs extra one-on-one attention for longer than usual, a gentle show may be put on for a short time. We only play calm, age-appropriate shows: Hey Bear Sensory, Little Bear, Franklin, The Melon Patch, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Lucas the Spider.

Our phones are for sending you photos and for calling you. At drop-off, parents keep their phones in their pocket.

Closure and backup policy

Planned closures: we're closed on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, plus up to 4 weeks of vacation a year, announced at least 30 days ahead. Closed days aren't charged.

Unplanned closures: if we have to close because of illness or an emergency on our end, or severe weather, we'll tell you by 6:30 am. You get a credit for each missed day.

Backup care: Shai is the only caregiver and there's no substitute, so on an unplanned closure your family needs its own plan for that day.

How we stay in touch

Every day: a text to confirm drop-off, and an end-of-day update.

Photos: you'll only receive photos of your own child, sometimes alongside our own children. We never send a photo that includes another family's child.

Every week: the weekly packet (activity schedule, meal plan and field-trip form) goes out once Sunday tuition is paid. Field-trip approval is due Sunday by 8 pm.

Every month: a growth update.

Reaching us: we answer texts within 3 hours during care hours, and by 8 am the next day otherwise. For anything urgent, call (719) 233-4624.
